Hampton, NH — Cathryn Sue (Owens) Lutner, 67, died at her home with her family by her side, on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Eldest of seven children, she was born and raised in Reseda, Calif., and always considered herself one of the original Valley girls. She attended the University of San Francisco and was part of their first-ever women’s class, graduating from its College of Nursing in 1968. Cathy then joined the Navy, a part of her life she thoroughly enjoyed, where she was stationed at the Chelsea Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass. While serving as a nurse, she met a young doctor, whom she married, settling first in Newburyport, Mass., and later Hampton Falls, N.H. The young couple had two children, Sam and Deborah. In her years at home, Cathy was very involved with elementary school activities, serving as president of the PTA for several years.
In 1989, she returned to school at UNH Whittier’s School of Business, graduating with her master's in 1991. She worked in various healthcare establishments, her favorite being the Eventide Home for Ladies.
Cathy was a strong lady with a big heart. She died of cancer after a short, but valiant fight.
She is survived by her son, Samuel Lutner of Hampton, N.H.; daughter, Deborah Parsons of Lutherville, Md.; and stepdaughter, Rachel Lutner of Highland Park, Ill.; and her siblings, Mary Owens, Micheal Owens, Collette Owens, Beth Crosby, and Maureen Worley; and several grandchildren.
