Salisbury, MA — Marilyn Ann (Furbush) Bishop, 78, longtime Salisbury resident, died peacefully on Thursday morning, August 29, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred S. Bishop, who died on July 13, 1993.
Born in Newburyport on July 23, 1935, she was one of eight children of the late Ralph and Abbie (Blaisdell) Furbush. She attended Amesbury High School.
Her life was dedicated to teaching. Her children were the first to receive her gift of teaching them the basic life lessons of love, understanding, faith, kindness, and gratefulness. She taught them by example and with encouragement. Her teaching career spanned from the River Valley Charter School, to cooking classes at Northern Essex Community College, to assistant art teacher at the Salisbury Elementary School. All her students truly loved her because she knew how to instill the love of learning.
She was a woman of great faith, thankful and grateful for the love of her family and the joy of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She felt truly blessed.
Her family includes her four children, Fred, Heidi, Craig and Abbie; her brothers, Ralph Furbush of Kensington, N.H., and Donald Furbush of Salisbury; her three sisters, Shirley Merrill of Seabrook, and Carole Stanwood and Donna Bishop, both of Salisbury; her grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The love and memories she leaves behind will be treasured forever by those who were so dear to her.
