Newburyport, MA — Rose M. (Valli) Caranfa, age 92, lifelong Newburyport resident, died peacefully Wednesday morning, December 4, 2013, at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation, in Newburyport. She was the devoted wife of 64 years of the late Lawrence A. Caranfa, who died April 5, 2007 and with whom she is now sharing the everlasting joy of their eternal reunion.
Born in Newburyport, November 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Chicala) Valli and was a graduate of Newburyport High School. Rose had worked at Western Electric in North Andover for 23 years, retiring as a supervisor. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Communications Workers of America, the N.E. Life Member Club, and the Newburyport Golden Age Club.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence A. Caranfa, Jr. and wife, Janice, of Woburn; her daughter, Julie Ann Leland and husband, Winthrop, of Oceanside, CA; her only grandchild, Michael Caranfa and wife, Jennifer, of Merrimac; her sister, Mary Tait of Newburyport and her niece, Cindy (Tait) Tarr and her husband, David, of San Diego, CA along with several dear cousins and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: A private graveside service will be held for the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Newburyport. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
