Newburyport, MA — Bernard Joseph Arsenault, 86, of Newburyport, died on October 11, 2013.
Bernie was born January 20, 1927, in Lawrence, Mass., to Henry and Margaret Arsenault. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, and received a bachelor's degree from Staley College.
He married the late Eugenia (Zafris) Arsenault in 1952, and they lived together in Newburyport, Mass.
Bernie was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed by Western Electric and Lucent Technologies, until the time of his retirement.
He was a professional drummer and vocalist his entire life, had his own band, and played for many years with Dick Creedon at the Sportsmen’s Lodge. He was also active in the local musician’s union, where he was an officer for many years.
He was also active in the community and was involved with the Newburyport Booster’s Club and the local Democratic Party.
Bernie is survived by four sons, David and Lynn Arsenault of Haverhill, Thomas J. Arsenault and Paul Morse of Ipswich, Seth B. Arsenault of Palm Springs, and Martin J, and Lisa Arsenault of Merrimac; his grandson, Yuri C. Arsenault, who is currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
