Merrimac, MA — Kenneth E. Keegan, 53, of Merrimac, died suddenly at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, on Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen J. (Tarrant) Keegan and devoted father of Haley, Kendall and Sean Keegan.
Born in Cambridge on February 29, 1960, he was the son of the late John E. and Florence (Zinfon) Keegan. After graduating from Billerica High School, Kenny went on to graduate from Westfield State College.
His passion for soccer was a huge part of his life, and from playing semi-pro soccer after his college years, becoming a soccer coach, and running the soccer program in the Merrimac community, Kenny never missed a chance to share his love of the game with his own children, as well as all of those he coached.
The life lessons he passed on to his children through his coaching and his community involvement have been invaluable, from team effort to self-improvement, to lessons of sportsmanship and the satisfaction of giving back to others.
For all he did for his family and for others, his children will attest that to them, he truly was, and forever will be, “The Best Dad in the World," and those in the community who count him as their, “Second Dad,” are too many to count.
He also enjoyed his memberships at the Newburyport Yacht Club and the York Harbor Marina, and the many great friends he made at both.
His love of life, determination, encouragement, genuine kindness, and unparalleled sense of humor will never be forgotten by all whose lives he touched so profoundly.
In addition to his wife of 24 years, his children, and all of Merrimac, he leaves behind three sisters, Nancy Espinola of Billerica, Jeanne-Marie Keegan of Nashua, N.H., and Brenda Keegan Jordan of Dracut; several loving in-laws; many nieces and nephews who were very close to him; and countless dear friends.
