Patrick J. Cleary


West Newbury, MA — Patrick J. Cleary, 63, of West Newbury, passed away early Thursday morning, September 12, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. He was the beloved husband of Deborah L. (Guilford) Cleary.

Born in Haverhill on July 15, 1950, he was the son of Mary I. (Shanahan) Cleary of Haverhill and the late J. Edward Cleary. Pat was educated at Saint James High School, Class of 1968, and went on to receive an associate degree from Bryant MacIntosh College. For 18 years, Pat worked at Adams Russell MA-Com in Amesbury, before going to United Plastic Fabricating in Andover and Ocala, Fla.

Before coming back to Massachusetts, Pat lived in Pine Ridge, Fla., for five years with his beloved wife, Deb, and their pets, which they enjoyed so much.

An avid sports fan and supporter of all the Boston teams, he was a dedicated follower of football and baseball. His love of reading and learning have been his lifelong passions.

Pat was a kind, caring, considerate person, always cheerful and uplifting. He inspired and touched many lives, his understanding and compassion coming from his deep-rooted faith.

In addition to his wife and his mother, Pat will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters, Steve Cleary and wife, Linda, of Danbury, N.H., Maureen Noury and husband, Steve, of East Hampstead, N.H., Connie Corr and husband, Earl, of Bradford, and Jack Cleary of Bradford; his nephews, Sean Corr, Patrick Corr and wife, Gwendolyn, and Christopher Corr, all of Bradford; David Noury of Atkinson, N.H., and Casey Cleary of Burlington, Vt.; his nieces, Monica Noury of East Hampstead, N.H., and Misty Fauteux of Nelson, N.H.; his father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Shirley Guilford of West Newbury; his sister-in-law, June Hamel and husband, Philip, of Fremont, N.H.; and niece, Brittany Gaudet of Fremont.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, September 18, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Ann’s Church of the Holy Redeemer Parish, 300 Main Street, West Newbury, followed by burial in Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830, or Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952.
