Georgetown — Donald William Ames, 80, of Georgetown died November 7, 2012 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Donald was born in Lynn, the son of the late Raymond and Etta (Boynton) Ames.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953 and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member and Deacon at the Georgetown Congregational Church, a member of the Georgetown Fish and Game Club and worked as a postal worker in Lynn and Topsfield for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Leona (Cleaves) Ames of Georgetown; children, David Ames, Nancy Ames of South Carolina and Holly Wallace and husband Jim of Newburyport; as well as eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Doris Ames and Ruth Moody.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Merton E. Roberts Jr and Conte Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. A funeral service will be held on Monday, 10 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown.
