Barbara Jean (Hannan) Chaisson, 70


Salisbury — Barbara J. (Hannan) Chaisson, 70, passed away peacefully on January 25th at the Merrimack Valley Hospice in Haverhill surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 27, 1942 in Newburyport and was the daughter of George V. & Madeline (MacDonald) Hannan. She attended Immaculate Conception Schools and graduated from ICHS in 1960.

Barbara married Leonard Chaisson on June 24, 1961.

Barbara was a stay at home mom and raised four children in Newburyport. Later in life, she was a waitress at several area restaurants, including Labadini’s, Cathy Ann’s and Cathy’s Country Kitchen.

Barb was a loving, devoted “Grammie” to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed lunches with her friends, working out, and entertaining family and friends at her home. A lifelong Catholic, she was a very generous and giving person, giving her time and support to local charities, including Pettengill House

and Star of the Sea Church.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Leonard J. Chaisson, and three sons, Jeffrey L. Chaisson and Kim Knowlton of Amesbury, Gregory J. Chaisson and Patricia Krapohl of Newburyport, and Stephen A. Chaisson and Cherice (Dijanni) Chaisson of Salisbury; and a daughter, Kathryn J. Orben of Salisbury; a sister, Janet (Hannan) and John Vitale of Tamworth, N.H. She leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, whom she loved with all of her heart, Brianna and Brandi Orben, Caitlyn and MacKenzie Chaisson, Victoria Chaisson, Amy Laiosa, Howard and Ryan Hart, and Amanda Paradis, and three great-grandchildren, Natalie, Daniel and Elizabeth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irene Crisham, Patty and Arthur Chaisson, Carolyn and Dave Shepard, Catherine and Scott Jackson, Betty and Blyn Tilley, Pat Fern, Paul and Caryle Chaisson, Anne Marie Manson, and Lawrence Chaisson. Also, many nieces and nephews, and her many friends, among them lifelong friend Lorraine (Costello) and husband Paul Haley, and Donna Marquis, Patty Gabriel and Mary Borin. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Thomas P. Hannan, sisters-in-law Suzanne (Chaisson) Reed and Andrea Chaisson, and brothers-in-law Gilbert Chaisson, Donald Manson, Oscar Fern and Robert Crisham.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Star of Sea Church in Salisbury. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Twomey - LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport.
