Charlotte, N.C. — Royster Heywood "Bo" Johnson, III, of Charlotte N.C., formerly of Amesbury, passed away at home with his loving wife, Marsha at his side, on Sunday, December 16, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Jack and Jane Johnson of Charlotte.
Bo graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte, class of 1963. For the past 19 years he worked for Crowder Construction until he retired this year. He previously worked at Gould-Shawmut in Newburyport from 1981-1989. He was also a volunteer fireman for Steele Creek and Tega Cay from 1964 to 1978.
Bo was a devoted and dedicated husband and friend who had a wonderful zest for life with an uplifting spirit that could make anyone feel better. There wasn't much that Bo didn't know how to do and he was always willing to help out a friend. Bo and Marsha were passionate about saving animals and transporting them to new lives and homes. Over the past few years they had driven hundreds of miles, saving hundreds of dogs and cats, relocating many to rescues and homes up north.
Bo is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marsha Felch Johnson, sons, Royster "Jay" Johnson, Brian Johnson, Joey Johnson and three stepsons, Thomas Doyle, R. Jeffrey Doyle and Jonathan Doyle, sister, Barbara "Rusty" Herlocker (Lester); brothers, Wade Johnson, Ken Johnson, and Don Johnson (Debra) and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2102 at Forest Lawn West Chapel with Mr. Gene Boatwright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
