To the editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the supporters and donors of the Hugh Doyle Resource Center. Our mission is to advocate for individuals and families who are seeking information and referrals regarding social services and financial resources that may be available to them. The HDRC works in collaboration with Newburyport social service agencies, benevolent organizations and religious institutions to coordinate services and improve the lives of individuals and families in need.
We could not carry out this mission without the support and cooperation of so many wonderful individuals in our community. We are an agency that tends to fly under the radar, working closely with families, schools, agencies and religious organizations. We are here to connect people to the resources and services they need to continue moving forward with productive, yet sometimes, scary lives.
Many families in our community are one paycheck away from possible disaster. We are trying to prevent these disasters from occurring, whether it is help coordinate assistance with a car repair bill, rental assistance, food resources, clothing or utility bill.
We are thankful for our outstanding partnerships with Kelleher Learning Enrichment Center, YWCA, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, Howard Benevolent Society, Community Action, Community Service, Society for the Relief of Aged Women, The Pettengill House, General Charitable Society, Pennies For Poverty and the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center.
A heartfelt thank-you for the generous financial donations given by: Elizabeth Mela, Katharine Kaplan, Suzanne Pegas, Newburyport Civic League, Institution For Savings, Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, Frank L. Currier Charitable Foundation, Central Congregational Church, Swasey Fund, Mark Richey Woodworking, Jonathan Woodman, Watts Eye Associates, Dr. Bakland, Lombardi Oil, The Doyle Family and Dr. Koglin.
I would also like to thank the HDRC Board members: Elizabeth Mela, Ingrid Cyros, Peter Balentine, John Leary, Joseph Sullivan, Ellie Doyle and Martha Leen, for their time and commitment to the vision of the late Hugh Doyle.
