Rosemary Werner is a superhero

To the editor:

I was leaving the library with my two children when we ran across Rosemary Werner on her way to get dinner going at Our Neighbors' Table. I stopped to point her out to my little ones and describe to them the work that she does for people in need. My 4-year-old looked up at me and responded with, "Mommy! She must be a Superhero!"

I ventured into the kitchen to share my daughter's comment with Rosemary, and caught her giving a bag of clothes to someone. Rosemary mentioned that the woman was homeless, so she, personally, had gathered a bag of clothing and essentials to give to her and asked if she needed anything else. When I told Rosemary and the other volunteers that my daughter thought she was a superhero, everyone listening responded warmly with, "Rosie truly IS a superhero!"

In Luke 21, Jesus told Peter, "Feed my sheep." Rosie and her crew do so every day. Thank God for real, live superheroes!
