Let's get the information right

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

I guess some people could be right when they say, “You’ve got too much time on your hands.” In my case, I am sort of retired, but too much time is not a problem I have. The problem I have is being a stickler for details. I realize that proofreading is probably done by “spell-check,” but getting the info correct is up to the writer. (Actually, I’m very surprised that Ralph Ayers hasn’t brought this up).

If you were to ask a local native where the three corners were or where is that clothing store on Market Street, you probably would get a blank stare and a “What, where, huh?” Your writers need to get the local lingo straight. More than once has your newspaper referred to activity at “three corners.” Let’s set the record straight — it’s “Three Roads,” not three corners. (You know, where Uncle Jacks was located?) Today, after reading the article about the clothing store at 10 Market St., well, I had to again clear up the confusion. It’s not Market Street (where the YWCA is located), it’s Market Square.

So there you have my rant for the day. Now, let’s see, hummm, what should I do for the rest of the day?
