'Grease' was a great show

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

The Amesbury High School Drama Club has extended a gift to the community. Their director, Suzanne Meyer, selected a cast of truly talented to perform in a musical theater piece called “Grease.” The students reached for the stars, outdid themselves and created a wholesome experience for their audience to enjoy.

The endeavor is multidimensional. The physical facilities in the auditorium are just excellent. The space is comfortable, spacious, acoustically enhanced and electronically wired to meet the needs at hand. Taxpayers can be proud of this.

The pit band, thanks to Dan Fijalkowski, director, and Justin Knoweton, keyboards, is just the best. The band has captured the sounds of the era. The stage crew, the costumes, the choreography, the blocking, the timing, the dialogue, the character development … these components are all honed and presented so very well. The stage rocks. The result is a professional production offered at one-tenth the price of the Boston shows.

Thank you to all involved. What you created is just awesome.
