Thanks for helping with food drive in Amesbury

To the editor:

Our Neighbors' Table and Amesbury Community Action would like to send a huge thank-you to everyone in the Amesbury community who helped with this year's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Thank you to Amesbury Postmaster Larry Day, to Pete Lavoie, who organized the event, and to all the wonderful letter carriers who worked so hard, despite the rain, on Saturday to collect food.

We would also like to thank our many wonderful volunteers from Amesbury High School and the Amesbury Boy Scouts who came and helped us. These two groups, along with some individual volunteers, did a fantastic job, and we could not have managed without them.

Finally, a huge thank-you to everyone in Amesbury who donated food for this event. This is the time of year when our shelves begin to get bare, and we rely on this food drive to help us restock. In this current economy, the need is greater than ever and, as always, the people of Amesbury have come through in a big way, donating 10,000 pounds of food. Thank you so very much.
