Newburyport Daily News
---- — To the editor:
I am feeling embarrassed for the voters of West Newbury for their action at Town Meeting last Thursday night. Setting aside the issues surrounding the lawsuit against the town and three individuals, an agreement is an agreement.
Ethical, honorable people stand by their agreements. That’s how I was raised and I would have thought that was how most people were raised.
And, yet, I heard folks eager to get out of the town’s obligation with an analogy about “getting a deal on a fire truck” and comments that “Tracy will take less.”
Should businesses and individuals see this as a warning when dealing with West Newbury?
Will the town honor its obligations? I never would have dreamed that this would be an issue in my town.
