Thanks for a great holiday season in Amesbury

To the editor:

Please accept this letter to thank the community for supporting Amesbury businesses this holiday season.

The secret is out! It seems that many more people now know that Amesbury is a superb destination for holiday shopping and good eats. Local business owners tell me that new visitors have come from near and far to find unique gifts and fabulous dining destinations within our charming city. Better yet, thanks to great customer service and the hospitable nature of everyone in Amesbury, people are spreading the word on social media sites about how great it is here. That kind of positive feedback will keep everyone coming back to Amesbury businesses, year-round.

Helping to kick-start the spirit of the season was the Amesbury Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting. Many thanks to everyone who walked in the parade, cheered from the sidewalks and sang carols around the tree. Your joyfulness was truly indicative of Amesbury pride. Big thanks to Joan and Randy Baptiste for donating the Market Square tree and to Woody Cammett for sponsoring the event.

Thank you to all the shops and salons that stayed open late and made guests feel so welcome on Amesbury Invitation Nights and during Sip ‘n Strolls. Your generous discounts and yummy snacks were greatly appreciated by everyone who walked our streets in search of the perfect presents for their loved ones.

Additionally, I am very grateful to everyone who contributed to our annual holiday food drive at Stop & Shop for Our Neighbors’ Table. Sadly, hunger continues to be a real problem in our area, but we did a great job of stocking the pantry shelves and helping those in need. Please continue to support the less fortunate whenever you can.

This year’s Restaurant & Shop Showcase was also tremendously successful, thanks to great attendance and generous sponsorships from the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, Anna Jaques Hospital, Coffey Design & Build and WNBP Radio. Your support helped to fund future Chamber endeavors and is greatly appreciated.
