To the editor:
For the third year in a row, the Christmas Tree Santas distributed over 200 free Christmas trees, with tree stands and ornaments, to needy families in the Greater Newburyport area. We write to thank those in our community who make this annual holiday gift possible.
Thanks to all the agencies that refer families to our program: Community Action Inc., Amesbury Holiday Program, Community Service of Newburyport, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley, Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center and Pettengill House.
We’re grateful to those that provided direct sponsorship support: the Institution for Savings, Matter Communications, Silverlink Communications, Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, The Provident Bank, Stone Ridge Properties, State Street Mobil, Haskell Paving, Randstad and Architectural Finishes.
We thank businesses that generously raised funds on our behalf or provided in-kind gifts: Newburyport Guide, the Grog, Flatbread Company, Cider Hill Farm, Eat Cake, Plum Island Coffee Roasters, Raka Creative, Kaya Jewelry, Valerie’s Gallery, New England Aquarium, Ducks in a Row and the Jack-Post Corporation.
Churches, schools, foundations and community groups also contributed in many ways. Thanks to the Greater Newburyport Families Club, the First Religious Society, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Central Congregational Church, General Charitable Society, Community Service of Newburyport, Newburyport Girl Scouts, and all the many local school children and their families that collected Christmas lights for our families.
Last but not least, our organization relies greatly on individual donors and volunteers — too numerous to mention — who graciously give their time, money and services to help us brighten the holidays for our neighbors. We’re grateful to all of our supporters for making our 2013 program a success and for keeping the spirit of Christmas alive and well in our community.
