On May 9, the beautiful warm weather created the perfect ambience for the annual Spring Bake Sale of the Anna Jaques Hospital Aid Association. The generous contributions from the Aid Membership and the community at large ensured the resounding success of this traditional, time-worthy fundraiser.
Gerber daisies, various hanging plants, herbs, hosta, planted window boxes, birdhouses and birdbaths seamlessly transformed the Atrium into a veritable garden of delights. And the scrumptious baked goods from the membership, hospital staff and local bakeries conspired to turn this into our most successful such sale yet.
Special thanks go out to our gracious donors: Tim Lamprey and Harbor Gardens for the colorful birdbath, Beach Plum Too for the cheerful Gerber daisies, Philip Burkett for the charming birdhouseand Suzanne De George for her exquisite spring notecards.
The home-baked goods donated by the Aid Membership included toffee brownies, chocolate chip cookies, a variety of pies, rhubarb crisp, carrot muffins, peach scones, melt-in-your-mouth fudge and Doris Brown’s bread and butter pickles.
In addition, the Aid was wonderfully supported by Doug Morris of Old Town Bread Company, Julie Ganong of Chococoa, Panera Bakeryand Suzanne Cap of AJH; all kindly donated their exceptional baked goods. Donations from Mary Zerigian, Peg McClure, Delia O’Connor and Carol Buckley were also greatly appreciated.
Finally, we certainly could not have done it all so smoothly without Doyle O’Brien’s willingness to assist in setting up tables, delivering goods from the parking lot to the Atrium and carrying items to the attic for storage until our next sale in the fall.
The Aid Association remains ever grateful for the ongoing support of the Greater Newburyport community in its fundraising efforts. All proceeds from the Aid’s fundraising events go to supporting patient services at AJH. We are so fortunate to have such a topnotch hospital surrounded by a responsive and giving community.
Thank you one and all!
