This is the time of year when the rhetoric translates into reality. “Budget season,” as we call it, is always a dance. At this time of year, local schools throughout the state estimate their costs and their revenue for the upcoming school year that starts in the fall. More often than not, costs and revenue collide with unsatisfactory results.
It all becomes a matter of prioritizing and listening to the voters. It always gets worked out, usually with the loudest voices winning the day.
We applaud Amesbury students for taking the initiative and making their voice heard. Now it’s up to the adults to make sure that the message is acted on, as well as the will of the voters.
