To the Editor:
I feel compelled to comment on Congressman John Tierney’s recent comments in The Daily News. In an article of several columns, few quotes were his. Much of the article recycled quotes of President Obama.
Notable Tierney quotes were, “They’re going to fix (healthcare.gov), the question is, how soon.”
“The problem is, of course, there’s a bunch of people down there (in Washington D.C.) that don’t want to fix it: they want it to fail.”
I find it incredible that our congressman thinks that Republicans and independents can cause the Affordable Care Act to fail. It has been enacted and passed as a law, but just by wishing we can make it fail? I wish to win the lottery, but wishing doesn’t make it happen!
Tierney also pointed to “the divisiveness (in Congress) as the root cause of the many problems this year.” He then goes on to equate any lack of progress to Republicans. Last I knew, compromise, mediation, etc., goes both ways. I feel really bad that the Democrats can’t still blame George W. Bush for every problem in our government, not! This folly was designed by our president, passed and voted on by Democrats and Republicans. Man up and own it.
It has design flaws as does the web site, and there have been attempts to hack into it.
If one truly wants to help our country, being part of the solution instead of placing blame would be a good place to start. For the record...I never wanted the ACA to fail, I just thought it would. Unlike so many others, I read at least a quarter of it online doing research to prove or disprove e-mails I was getting.
