Adult ed program gearing up for new year

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

As school opens for the kindergarten through 12th-grade crowd, the Newburyport Adult & Community Education Program is also firing up for a new year.

Each season we work to bring to our community classes, programs, workshops, discussion groups and adventures that will engage folks and foster participation in lifelong learning.

Here are some highlights of the upcoming year: Boot Camp for Writers, Grand Tour of the Solar System, Astronomy, En Plein Air Painting, The Restaurant School for high school students, Boating Safety, Gypsy Dancing, Hospice Volunteer Training (no charge),Chamber Music Connection, Fabulous Lyceum classes. By the way, Newburyport Lifelong Learning Lyceum (daytime program) has been recognized by the international ElderHostel/Road’s Scholar organization. Our listings will be included on their Web page and in their catalog. Quite an honor!

We’re heading into the final days of our annual fundraising campaign.

We are grateful to those of you have responded to our request. Thank you for your generosity and belief that adults need to be learners too!
