Newburyport Daily News
---- — To the editor:
When I wake up in the morning, I open my window to gaze out at the sky beyond my bedroom, and what do I see? A Market Basket plastic bag that has been stuck on the top of a neighbor’s tree for the past several months. I expect the bag will be with me for many months to come.
If you look around, you will see plastic bags everywhere, stuck on fences and brush along highways and city streets, even flapping from trees in Maudslay State Park and the national wildlife refuge on Plum Island.
I would welcome a city ordinance regulating plastic bags as a step in reducing this litter. Newburyport is our home, let’s keep it clean!
