To the editor:
Within five seconds after he got the question out of his mouth of Newt Gingrich's ex-wife saying the speaker had asked her for an open marriage that was supposed to be a gottcha moment on Newt Gingrich, John King's body language conveyed the big mistake he just made. Not only that, but instead of just taking his punishment, he tried to talk his way out of it, which only made the situation worse. Gulp!
King's response to the first lambasting was that CNN did not break the story, referring to the ABC interview of the speaker's ex-wife Marianne. For that Mr. King served up another pitch right over the plate to the speaker, with which he then hit a second homerun by saying, "I'm tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama." Gulp!
Now later when Mr. King was questioned by Anderson Cooper, he fell on his sword and said he alone was responsible for making the decision to ask the question. Bad decision, Gulp!
Now whether you believe Mr. Gingrich or his ex-wife, there is no doubt that by leading with that question, the people of South Carolina overwhelmingly voted for the speaker and gave him a decisive victory. Now breathing down Mitt Romney's neck, Mr. Gingrich's campaign was revitalized as they head into Florida. I believe the elite liberal media will be much more careful when questioning Mr. Gingrich from now on, because whatever pitch they tried to throw at him has been launched over the Green Monster.
One more thing: those gulps, that's President Obama swallowing hard!
