To the editor:
Jackie Kastrinelis came from a small town in Massachusetts: Groveland.
She carried with her a passion for the arts that propelled her to stages all over the world. She achieved in her young life what most of us will never do.
She lived her dreams.
Perhaps the only thing bigger than her talent was her heart. Jackie’s compassion for others was infinite.
Jackie has touched countless lives with her song. She knew instinctively that music stokes the soul. And when she sang we were also hearing her soul. It is an amazing experience still today.
Our loss is profound. But Jackie would not wish the music to end or the curtain to come down in a bout of sadness.
Jackie would have easily mesmerized us with her inviting smile and soothing laughter and challenged us to carry on. Surely, she would quip “Hey, the show must go on!”
There is no sorrow here therefore. Just a celebration of an extraordinary life that reminded us of the things that are important: family, friends, community and uncompromising service to others.
Rest in peace, dear child. We will forever hear your song.
