Thanks for helping Newburyport parks

To the editor:

Once again, I am reminded of the extraordinary outpouring of support that comes from the Greater Newburyport community when one but asks. Sponsors, volunteers and wine tasters alike all chipped in to make A Spring Wine Tasting a successful inaugural fundraiser for the Newburyport Parks Conservancy.

It is with sincere gratitude on behalf of the conservancy, the Parks Commission and me, that I thank the following people for their support:

Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank for being our Bordeaux Sponsor; Matter Communications for their indispensable sponsorship of start-up costs; Wellington Augusto and the Mission Oak Grill for lending a beautiful venue, staff, and for delectable cheese trays; Kim Colby and Port Wine and Spirits, and Michael Provencher and Ross Lochrie of Horizon Beverage for a scrumptious wine tasting; Paula Monk who persevered through a compound fracture and surgery as volunteer event coordinator; Ann Dykes, dynamo volunteer and social media wiz with a persistent positive attitude that sustained me; Deborah Andrews for lending her advice and encouragement; Charla Holt and Katie Guildner for holding down the fort with Paula at the ticket counter; Rosemary Coloumbe for arriving at exactly the right moment to get the admission line moving; the volunteer who single-handedly staffed the raffle table through its waves of patrons; Carl Strube of WNBP for lending his announcing expertise; Dave Leonard, Robert Marshall and Jim Reid for critical set-up and clean-up assistance; Eric Dykes for donating audio visual services; all those who donated to the raffle and silent auction; Jared Holaday, Patrick Holaday and Chad Clancy of Lux for the tunes that brought it all together; and all of those who attended the event, making the evening a great success.

I am humbled by your generosity.
