To the editor:
The Class of '49 lost a very special friend and classmate recently. Jo Solari, our rock, our foundation. The "glue" that kept us all together. Jo knew and kept track of each one of us, where we lived, what we did and how we were. She not only knew us personally, she knew us internally.
Jo was also organized. She kept records back from our fifth to our 60th reunion. Where we met, how many attended, what it cost and what we ate. She made us special, unique, because she cared. The 49ers aren't just friends. We are family. She made us care for one another and about one another. She was the head of the family. Because of Jo, we are and always will be a special class.
Now after 60 years, more have passed on than are alive. Nevertheless, despite the losses, the 49ers remain strong. We care because she made us care. We'll miss her and all she brought to our class, physically and mentally. But we'll continue to care as she cared. and the 49ers family will carry on till the last of us is gone.
You may have left us, dear Jo, but you'll be in our hearts and minds whenever and wherever we gather. Thanks, Jo, for all you did and have done for each of us, all of us. You'll be greatly missed. Farewell, dear friend. Love and hugs from all the 49ers and especially me!
