A unique poetry experience

To the editor:

Poetry permeates our lives. From baseball ("Mighty Casey has struck out") to music ("Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge, Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain") to life itself ("What the scale tells you is how much the earth has missed you").

Join your friends, neighbors and colleagues Sunday, April 25, at 3 p.m. at The Firehouse in downtown Newburyport for the eighth annual Favorite Poem Project. Children, teens, grandparents, city officials and more will be reading poems in English, Greek, Spanish and Montenegrin. Best of all, it's free.

For one hour, put aside the Red Sox, gardening and newspaper and be part of this wonderfully unique Newburyport cultural and community experience.
