NHS Band thanks the community

To the editor:

The Newburyport High School Band would like to thank everyone who made our first annual Mattress Fundraiser on Sept. 21 such a success. Altogether, nearly 30 mattresses were sold, and the band raised over $3,000. In addition, several members of the community made cash donations, including a generous contribution from the Duncan/Schumacher Music Studio. These funds will be put to good use, as the band prepares to travel to New York City this spring.

The band looks forward to sharing the gift of music with the Newburyport community at the Santa Parade on Sunday, Dec. 1, and at our Winter Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 10, as well as events throughout the spring.

Thanks so much for supporting music in our schools.
