How much is a child's life worth?

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

Millions of people board commercial airplanes everyday secure in knowing that no one is carrying a gun on board with the intention murdering them. Our airline security system makes it virtually impossible to board a plane with a weapon. Don’t our children deserve the same level of security when they enter the classroom? Apparently not. The resounding hue and cry is, “We don’t have the money.” Well, we found the money to protect airline revenue. Why can’t we find the money to protect children? If actions speak louder than our words, then our country’s priority is clear: protect commerce, not children. Our collective will guarantees the safety of airline passengers. Conversely, our lack of will guarantees that another group of innocent children will be gunned down just like the children at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
