Newburyport Daily News
---- — To the editor:
I am more than a little shocked at the following reported by the Daily News (Dec. 28, 2012) as being said by Sen. Bruce Tarr about the eroding beach on Plum Island: “But with a chuckle, Tarr said there was little the DEP (Department of Environment Protection) could do to stop the town from placing boulders in the dead of night and dealing with the legal fallout later.”
No wonder we, as a nation, seem to have so little regard for the rule of law when our “law-makers” make statements such as these. May we take as his suggestion that we all do what most criminals do: break the law first and deal with the legalities later?
