---- — To the editor:
In a recent column Barbara Anderson wrote, “ If our other freedoms are threatened, we all have the right to grab our guns and run to the battlefield.” I thank her for clarifying the purpose of owning guns.
I thought it was just for target practice, hunting and shooting people who threatened you with a gun. She now tells me that I can use a gun to fight tyranny.
But I have a few questions, Barbara. Do I, as an individual, determine that my freedoms are being threatened or does some organization make that determination for me? In either case, I’m supposed to grab my gun and run to the battlefield. Barbara, exactly where is that battlefield?
You see, when I was a combat infantryman in the Battle of the Bulge and in Germany during WWII fighting tyranny, I was told where the enemy was. Also, although as a lowly PFC I was not privy to the strategic plans of the generals, I did know exactly whom to shoot at, and it was clear that I should not shoot at fellow American soldiers.
So, I’m wondering, can you tell me whom to shoot at when I feel tyrannized? And by the way, will there be someone leading this uprising? I know Charlton Heston is dead.
