---- — To the editor:
Thanks to David Tierney for his insightful letter, “NRA should put plans on hold” (Jan. 22). He reminded us of the tragic history of the NRA: 1960s — tearing down the historic downtown; 1970s — building on every inch of the waterfront; and 1980s — building a hotel on the waterfront.
He perceptively asked why in the world when every town in the U.S. is fighting for open space would we want to build on this exceptional waterfront space? And, especially so when we have not seen the full impact of the Karp plans in place.
Like many of us, I do not want to see a mini GAPs, Aeropostales or Express-blah blahs enjoying a rich view of our harbor — that view belongs to the public.
