Obama silent on abortion

To the editor:

Having read your paper on Jan. 22, I was grieved by what was and was not written on this historical date. As you reported, many are excited about the president’s second term, rather than being burdened for him. For, no reference was made to it being the anniversary of the most heinous decision made 40 years ago — the Roe v. Wade decision by seven of nine Supreme Court injustices on Jan. 22, 1973.

This sinful decision removed full legal protection for the most defenseless and innocent citizens of America — the conceived citizens in the womb. But the day before the anniversary of this American Holocaust more people in New England were grieving the loss of a football game than the killing of over 50 million American children through abortion.

The Bible is unequivocal that those in the womb are children deserving full legal protection regardless of how they were conceived (Exodus 21:22-23; Ecclesiastes 11:5). How a child was conceived may be sinful and often is in this sexual, sin-laden country (Hebrews 13:4). But how a child was conceived does not justify killing him or her. A child is not to be put to death for the sin of a parent (Deuteronomy 24:16). Fifty million-plus abortions are not all due to the sins of rape and incest. Abortion has become a protected and accepted means of child killing, unlike Sandy Hook, Conn.

The national sin of abortion can only be solved by the Biblical gospel that the evangelical church needs to regain (Proverbs 28:13; Isaiah 55:6-7; Acts 4:12). Plus, the president’s past voting record and current silence about seeing Roe v. Wade overturned should cause anyone who cares about his soul to shudder! God save the president!

I am burdened for the president in light of what he has said and not said, done and not done. For he has clearly shown that he does not believe the Bible that he laid one of his blood-stained hands on. Yet the number who voted for him, even those who profess to follow the One who was sinlessly conceived in the womb and called the Prince of Peace, are not as concerned for this president as they should be in light of his words and deeds at home and abroad.
