Embarrassed by condition of Frog Pond

To the editor:

The volunteers with the Bartlet Mall Commission would like to thank the many folks who made financial donations to the Mall during the Olde Fashioned Sunday events. During the course of the day the four commission members spoke with 42 residents and visitors.

Most of those we spoke with were embarrassed to know that the water in the Frog Pond contains so many pollutants that the annual canoe-jousting event was canceled this year.

Suggestions from the public on how to reduce E.coli and other pollutants are welcomed at Some ideas from NHS and the Gulf of Maine Institute are awaiting action from staffers at City Hall and DPS.

Walt Thompson, Chair

Bartlet Mall Commission
