Thanks for supporting Public Safety Holiday Drive

To the editor:

On behalf of the Newbury Police Association, Byfield Fire Protection #1 and Newbury Fire Protection #2, I’d like to thank the people who came out in support of our annual Public Safety Holiday Drive by donating toys and gift cards. We’re proud to announce that we were able to overflow three cruisers with gifts that were divided up and donated to the Newbury Elementary School, the Newburyport DARE House, the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center and the Pettengill House, so that those who are struggling more than most will be able to provide for their children this holiday season.

In addition to those who donated, I’d like to say a special thank-you to K-Mart of Newburyport, which hosted a drop box at their store and made a generous corporate donation; SPS New England for donating the use of their roadside sign for advertisement purposes and Domino’s Pizza of Newburyport for feeding the volunteers.

Based on public request, Newbury Police has agreed to continue collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages along with grocery and specialty store gift cards up until Christmas and will continue to oversee the distribution of those ongoing donations to the organizations listed above.

Happy Holidays.

Sgt. Patty Fisher

Newbury Police Association secretary
