Thanks for supporting Our Neighbors Table

To the editor:

Our Neighbors’ Table would like to thank the ten banks and credit unions that participated in the first annual “The Hungry Are Banking On Us” food drive to support our food pantry. Thanks to the generosity of the employees and customers, the drive collected 1,400 pounds of food and personal care products!

A huge thank you to Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank (which helped organize and sponsor this event and collected food at all six branch locations); Bank of America (Newburyport), Citizens Bank (Amesbury), Eastern Bank (Newburyport); Institution for Savings (both Newburyport locations); The Provident Bank (three locations in Amesbury and Newburyport); RTN Federal Credit Union (Amesbury); Sovereign Bank (Newburyport); St. Jean’s Credit Union (Newburyport) and TD Bank (three locations in Amesbury and Newburyport).

Thank you to Our Neighbors’ Table Food Drive Committee who planned this event, particularly Andrea Bailey, RTN Credit Union; Michelle Mahair,

Institution for Savings and Anne Gagne, The Provident Bank. We would also like to thank Rafael Centariczki, John Meaney, Bill Mosher, and Peter

McLaughlin who picked up and unloaded all of the donations; Andrew Witherbee from Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank who designed our posters and helped us with outreach; Erica Brooks-Sayers from Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank who helped plan and coordinate this project and everyone in the community who donated so generously!

In 2012, Our Neighbors’ Table (which serves 12 cities and towns) saw a 100% increase in the number of households who utilize our weekly pantry. We could not keep our pantry shelves stocked without the support of the businesses, churches, civic organizations and individuals in our community. On behalf of all the families we serve, we thank you for your kindness and generosity.
