Merrimac St. already a speed, trash zone

To the Editor:

I’m a resident of Merrimac Street who has lived 1/4 mile from this infamous intersection for several years. My neighbors and I are constantly bombarded with drivers who ignore the largely uninforced 30 mph speed limit and believe that Merrimac Street is an open dump for them to get rid all kinds of trash.

The Little League park down the street is also a cause for concern with parents and children crossing Merrimac Street to the park. Vehicle size is not restricted with all manner of large commercial trucks and large boat trailers using it on a daily basis.

Now we will spend $1 million plus for a roundabout that will be pounded into oblivion by the end of next summer.

Good luck with that idea.
