Mortified at development of Bushee land

To the editor:

As a Newbury native and descendant of the first settlers, I was mortified to hear that the Bushee farm on Newman road had been torn down and large houses going in. This was perhaps the most beautiful and historic part of Newbury, and it was well known that Mrs. Bushee had put her land in trust to be preserved. I guess several decades of clever lawyers picked away at the trust.

I regret not trying to help prevent this and I’m really disappointed in the people and the town of Newbury for letting this happen. It is a beautiful town that is being destroyed by development.
