To the editor:
Mayor Donna Holaday should remain in office based on her impressive credentials, poise at the debates and her diligent academic work including obtaining a law degree. Her accomplishments are many and she should be applauded for her unstinting efforts and her focus to fulfill the needs of the city. She is indefatigable and her work ethic comes through very clearly in her actions. Her passion and devotion to Newburyport was apparent during the recent debate in all of her answers to the most difficult of questions.
She has four years of experience and should carry on with the city’s needs. Voting for her just makes common sense, as her knowledge of the inner workings with the various department heads, councilors and state and federal officials is integral to the decision-making for the city going forward. In particular, her relationships with these state and federal officials have resulted in millions of dollars for the city and less tax dollars from us.
Further, we need for her to continue working on her programs that have benefitted everyone in the city. We do not want any of these programs altered or coming to a screeching halt.
You would be doing the city a service re-electing Mayor Donna Holaday on Nov. 5. If you really think about it, it just makes common sense to continue with the incumbent.
