The reasons Sullivan will make a good mayor

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

In reference to the letter to the editor in Oct. 24’s Daily News signed by Ray Clements, I thank Mr. Clements. He points out rightfully so that he likes Richard E. “Dick” Sullivan. He realizes Mr. Sullivan is popular, he is a lifetime resident of Newburyport, he has amassed many friends, he has an outgoing personality and a gregarious disposition. He also went on to say Richard Sullivan is a great guy. These qualities in a candidate for mayor of the City of Newburyport are what people are looking for. I would add to his attributes that Mr. Sullivan is also a Navy veteran, a retired city firefighter, he served on the Newburyport School Committee, is a licensed real estate broker and is a member of the Newburyport City Council.

As far as his reference to a “prom,” maybe some candidates may dance around the issues, but he and the voters of Newburyport can rest assured it won’t be Dick Sullivan. By the way, I am voting Sullivan for mayor.
