Thanks for helping with half marathon

To the editor:

Last Sunday, Oct. 20, marked the 3rd annual Newburyport Green Stride Half Marathon. On behalf of the organizers, we would like to send out many thanks to all those involved in making this great race a success and we sincerely love being able to host this event in Newburyport and West Newbury during the most beautiful time of year.

First and foremost, thanks to all of the residents for supporting all of the participants running along our roads. They truly enjoy having everybody cheering at the start, finish and along the course throughout their run and it helps keep their competitive edge in high spirits. Thanks to Don Hennigar and the Newburyport cross-country team as well as the rest of our volunteers for giving their time and energy throughout the event. Without their help, none of this would be possible.

For keeping our roads safe for our runners as well as traffic, we would like to thank Lt. Siemasko, Chief Holmes and all of our police details coming from Newburyport, West Newbury, state police and sheriff’s department. Thanks to Tony, Greg and PJ at the First Republic for welcoming our runners on your their beautiful property. Thanks to Lise Reid and the Newburyport Parks and Rec Department. Thanks to the North End Boat Club and its members for being part of the race since its inception and having continued support throughout.

Other notable thanks from our supporters and sponsors that include the Newburyport Fire Department, Newburyport Licensing Board, Flatbread and Sal’s Pizza, Greater Boston Running Company, Arthur Page Insurance, Abraham’s Bagels, Active Life Chiropractic, Sankofa Massage, Whole Foods, Evolvement Radio, Brooks, Newburyport Brewing and Peak Organic, Merrimack Valley Distributors and The Daily News.

Lastly, all of our participants who chose our race as their fall half marathon, we thank you. See you in 2014!
