Annual migrations are well-known: swallows to Capistrano, monarch butterflies to Mexico, snowbirds to Florida ... Here in Newburyport birders bear witness to the arrival of several species. My personal sign that summer is here is the arrival of the penguins on the Merrimack near the clamshack on Water Street. Yup, four of them, standing on ice floes.
Hooray for the penguins and their phantom keeper!
Hooray for summer!!
