To the editor:
I recently attended a book talk at the Emma Andrews Branch library in Newburyport. The book talk was given by Fran Larkin regarding his new book: “Five Words and then Some: How to Succeed in This Big Game We Call Life.”
What a find — and I don’t only mean only the book! I really got a lot from the book and from listening to Fran speak. The book was written in a conversational style and filled with terrific advice for people of all ages. The book covers topics such as hard work, attitude, enthusiasm, perseverance and fun. The “And Then Some” covers other topics such as public speaking, volunteering and relationships, just to name a few. The author gives some historical references and interweaves examples of how following what these words can teach us has helped him in his own life.
While at the book talk, Fran Larkin told us that he gives talks at places like schools, businesses and retirement homes.
It appears that Fran Larkin is more than willing to help as many people as he can from the benefit from his own experience.
I really hope that schools especially will take advantage of Fran’s knowledge, enthusiasm and experience. This book is a must-read, especially for kids in eighth grade, high school or college. Listening to Fran speak is equally enthralling.
The new book “Five Words and Then Some,” written by Fran Larkin, is definitely an outline for success!
