Preserve Colby Farm land as open space

To the editor:

After reading several recent Daily News articles about the possible development of the Colby Farm property on Low Street, I am writing to express my concerns.

I am a resident of a nearby neighborhood and I pass by this property everyday. Not only are these open fields beautiful to see, but they provide a habitat for wildlife and help prevent flooding on Low Street.

Increased traffic is another concern. As a taxpayer, I would like to see the city either use CPA funds to purchase this property, or partner with an organization to buy and preserve this land. I believe this open space enhances the quality of life in Newburyport and is worth saving.
