Thanks to Shaw's for help in food drive

To the editor:

The officers and board members of Pennies for Poverty thank Shaw’s Supermarket and their local employees for their enthusiastic assistance in our recent food drive.

Over $3,000 was donated by Shaw’s customers to purchase food over the past two weeks. That food was delivered to Salvation Army and Community Service in Newburyport; Our Neighbors’ Table and Community Action in Amesbury; and Pettengill House in Salisbury.

We thank the volunteers who helped staff our program, and we especially thank the generous citizens of the Greater Newburyport community who donated to help us feed the hungry in our area.

We conduct these food drives twice every year in May and November in an effort to support the work of the local food pantries. Anyone interested in volunteering or donating to this program can check our website for further information.
