To the editor:
I wish to thank the community for their support of the 115th Annual Amesbury Days celebration.
With this year’s Amesbury Days theme of “Remember when ...” I hope we were able to tap into those childhood memories of home, of warm summer nights and recollections of good times with family, friends and community. I would like to thank those people who made this possible for me as the chairman this year.
First off, I want to thank Mayor Ken Gray and his amazing staff, Evan Kenny and Alyssa Pembro. These people have honored me with their assistance, support and trust in my vision. Without them, 2014 Amesbury Days could not be what was this year.
Thanks to former Mayor Thatcher Kezer for having the foresight in directing Amesbury Days into a professional, not-for-profit organization and for bringing together a talented group of individuals several years ago. It was these people’s efforts setting up a framework that made my job so much easier this year than it would have been otherwise; I would be remiss not the thank them for their work. Kim Czar, Frank Czar, Don Meskie, Kate Broughton, Ray Shockey and special thanks to my wife Heidi Thompson, whose support and encouragement through this process made all the difference.
This year would not have been possible without the support of Amesbury Days Board of Directors, Matt Sherrill and David Hildt. I thank you both for allowing me the latitude to move forward with my vision this year in whichever direction my inspiration carried me.
Also, special thanks to Tara Nelson for her passion for history, Ann Miles of the Amesbury Carriage Museum for her perspective, Chris Dynia for his creative efforts and assistance with all digital media, Jeff Williams of Hockmeyer Studios, the Chamber of Commerce, Amesbury Rotary and Downtown Business Association for all of your mutual collaborative support in making this event a success for the people of Amesbury.
And to all of you! It was your support and encouragement on line that has been inspirational to me.
You all have honored me with your trust and support of my ideas and I hope that you all feel that I have been a respectful custodian of this honorable tradition.
