Thanks for supporting food drive

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

Our Neighbors’ Table, Community Service of Newburyport, The Pettengill House, Community Action, Merrimac Council on Aging and The Salvation Army would like to thank the community for its overwhelming generosity in this year’s “STAMP OUT HUNGER” Food Drive. This drive, coordinated by the National Association of Letter Carriers, was an enormous success this year, collecting almost twice as much food as it did last year!

Thank you to our local Postmasters who worked to coordinate the distribution of donations: Newburyport/Salisbury Postmaster Paul Bolas; Amesbury Postmaster George Riley, and Merrimac Postmaster John Conti. You did a fabulous job!

Thank you to all the letter carriers who worked long hours on Saturday, and who handled and transported heavy bags filled to the brim with food! We know how much extra work this drive entails, and we are so grateful for your efforts on our behalf.

Thank you to the many, many volunteers who gave up a Saturday to help us unload, sort and put away all of the food. We could not have made it through the day without your help!

Finally, thank you to everyone who donated so generously! We rely heavily on this drive to replenish our shelves, and to make sure we have enough food for the increased demand during the summer months. Your kindness, your generosity and your support are greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!
