Sorry to gum up the works

To the editor:

“Unfortunately you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems; some of these same voices also doing their best to gum up all the works. They’ll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave and creative and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.

Those were the words of Barack Obama on May 5, 2013.

All I can say is that speech was really ill-timed.

It’s been a rough few weeks for the president, Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder. With so many unanswered questions surrounding the death of four Americans in Benghazi, the IRS targeting of conservative groups and the Justice Department’s seizure of AP reporters’ phone records, isn’t it time to “drain the swamp” to quote Nancy Pelosi (sarcasm).

It’s been truly amazing to see the president’s display of utter ignorance, insensitivity, incompetence and hubris.

That applies to Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder, as well. Obama would have us believe that he gets most of his information from watching the nightly news. His attorney general, Eric Holder can’t seem to remember anything under Congressional questioning and his former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asks “what difference does it make” when asked about four dead Americans in Benghazi.

Shouldn’t we expect more from our government?

I guess you can count me in the camp that does believe that tyranny is lurking around every corner and that government can’t be trusted.

Sorry to gum up all the works, Mr. President.
