To the editor:
A Camp Sea Haven Reunion is scheduled for Sunday, July 28, 1-4 p.m., at Newbury Fire Hall, Newbury. If you were a camper, counselor, kitchen help, aquatic instructor, lifeguard, art teacher, friend, family member or supporter, we would love to see you and reminisce about the wonderful times we all had at this special place.
Camp Sea Haven on Plum Island was founded in 1947 by Daniel Harrington Sr. for children afflicted with polio. This free camp operated under the Harrington family’s leadership for 24 years welcoming children who would not be accepted at other camps because of their health and physical conditions. In 1972, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation took over the camp and continued the operation until it closed in 1988.
Please bring your photos, memorabilia, songs and stories. Our goal over the next year is to create a film on the history of Camp Sea Haven that will be available for purchase and shown at the Parker River Wildlife visitor center.
For more information about the Camp Sea Haven Reunion, please see us on Facebook Camp Sea Haven or email us at email@example.com or send us a note to Camp Sea Haven Reunion, PO Box 1366, Newburyport 01950.
Hope you can join us!
