Thanks for successful Amesbury for Africa fundraiser

To the editor:

I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank those who made our recent Amesbury for Africa fundraiser a wonderful success. First, I would like to thank Shannon Hamilton and her crew at Flatbread Pizza, 5 Market Square, Amesbury, for hosting us on Tuesday, April 8. They were very helpful in organizing the evening’s activities, providing a friendly venue and generously making a donation for every pizza sold that night.

Thanks to all the Amesbury for Africa supporters and friends who turned out to have a pie and show their support. And our special thanks go to Rose Cole, Jim Cole and Gay Main, who helped to sell tickets for our 50/50 raffle. This raffle raised $410, which will be used to support projects in Amesbury’s Sister Village of Esabalu, Kenya.

The children of Esabalu and their mothers thank Amesbury area residents for helping with school uniforms, reading programs and sponsorships for the neediest children in their community.

Lastly, I want to thank all Amesbury area residents who joined us on Tuesday night. We say “asante sana” — thank you each and every one for your support. To find out more about our 25-year sister village partnership with a small farming community in Kenya, go to
